// why preview

Why WhatsApp link previews matter.

Better engagement

Messages with link previews get more clicks. A good preview with an image and clear title makes your content more trustworthy and clickable.

Control your message

Without proper Open Graph tags, WhatsApp generates a generic preview. Validate your tags to ensure the right image and message appear.

Professional appearance

When sharing links to your business, products, or content, a well-formatted preview signals professionalism and attention to detail.

// what's inside

Everything you need to preview your WhatsApp links.

Live link preview

See exactly how your URL will appear in a WhatsApp chat — image, title, description, and domain.

Meta tag validation

Automatically check for required Open Graph tags and get instant feedback on what's missing.

Image upload override

Manually upload a custom image to see how it would look in the preview, without waiting for meta tags to update.

Light / dark mode

Preview your link in both WhatsApp's light and dark display modes to ensure readability in both themes.

Manual override

Test different titles and descriptions without modifying your page. Perfect for A/B testing.

No data stored

All fetching and previewing happens in your browser. URLs and meta tags are never stored on any server.

// best practices

Optimize your WhatsApp link previews.

01

Use og:image

WhatsApp prioritizes og:image. Use an image that's at least 200×200px with a 1.91:1 aspect ratio for best results.

02

Keep titles concise

WhatsApp shows about 60-70 characters of the title. Put your most important message in the first 60 characters.

03

Write clear descriptions

Descriptions under 150 characters perform best. Preview here to see exactly how much shows up in the card.

04

Use absolute image URLs

WhatsApp requires absolute URLs (starting with https://) for images. Relative paths or localhost URLs won't work.

// faq

Questions, answered plainly.

How does WhatsApp generate link previews?

WhatsApp uses Open Graph meta tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) from the page to generate previews. If no OG tags are found, it falls back to page title and a generic preview.

What meta tags does WhatsApp use?

WhatsApp primarily uses og:title, og:description, and og:image. The image should be at least 200×200px for best results, with 1.91:1 aspect ratio recommended.

Does this tool send my URL to WhatsApp?

No. This is a preview-only tool. It fetches the page metadata to display a preview, but never sends anything to WhatsApp or publishes on your behalf.

Can I test a localhost URL?

No. The tool requires publicly accessible URLs to fetch meta tags. Localhost or internal network URLs cannot be reached by the proxy service.

Is my URL stored anywhere?

No. All fetching and previewing happens in your browser. The URL and meta tags are never stored on any server.
