// why this matters

Small things that break a tweet.

The 280-character wall

Go one character over and your post won't send. The live ring counter shows exactly how much room you have left as you type.

Awkward image crops

X crops images to fit the feed. Uploading here shows the same aspect ratio so you catch a bad crop before it's public.

Light vs. dark mode

A big chunk of your audience reads X in dark mode. Toggle the preview to make sure your image and emoji still read well on black.

// what's inside

Everything you need to check before you tweet.

Live character ring

A real-time 280-character counter, styled after X's own compose ring, so you always know your limit.

Image upload preview

Attach a photo and see it rendered inside the mockup at the same size and position as a real post.

Verified badge toggle

Flip on the checkmark to see how your post reads with a verified badge next to your name.

Light / dark mode

Switch instantly between X's light and dark display modes without leaving the page.

Download the mockup

Export your preview as a PNG to share with a client or teammate for approval.

No login, no posting

Nothing here connects to X. It's a private, local mockup — nothing is ever published for you.

// how it works

Three steps, one clean post.

// writing tips

Tweets that don't get lost in the scroll.

01

Front-load the point

The first line is what shows in notifications and quote-tweets. Put the actual point there, not the setup.

02

One image, one idea

A single, well-cropped image usually reads clearer than a busy collage. Preview it here before you decide.

03

Leave room for quote-tweets

If people are likely to quote you, keep your post under ~250 characters so their comment doesn't feel cramped.

04

Check it in dark mode

Light text on a transparent image can vanish on a black background. The dark toggle catches this in seconds.

// faq

Questions, answered plainly.

What is the character limit for a post on X?

Standard posts on X are limited to 280 characters. This tool counts characters live and warns you when you go over the limit.

Can I preview an image with my tweet?

Yes. Upload an image and it will appear inside the mockup exactly where it would in a real post, so you can check the crop and composition.

Does this tool post to X for me?

No. This is a preview-only tool. It never connects to your X account and never publishes anything on your behalf.

Can I see how my post looks in dark mode?

Yes. Use the light/dark toggle above the preview to check how your post renders in both of X's display modes.

Is my tweet text stored anywhere?

Your draft text is saved only in your own browser's local storage so it survives a refresh. Uploaded images are not saved and nothing is sent to a server.
